Dr Chris Vaighan promoted to professorial position by Sydney University

1st November 2017

Clinical Professor Chris Vaughan is Head of Cellular Physiology of Pain Laboratory and Principal Hospital Scientist, Royal North Shore Hospital and Clinical Senior Lecturer, The University of Sydney.  Chris's current major areas of research include identifying the mechanisms underlying chronic pain. Surprisingly, this is poorly understood. This is essential for a rational approach to identifying new drugs to treat this debilitating condition. His research group is particularly interested in the properties of cannabis ad how they might be adapted for new drugs to treat pain.
